Today, we will talk about gluten, soy, and dairy products. I would like to address these 3 things together because they are always in conspiracy!
Gluten.. so what is gluten? Just remember Gluten is a type of protein which you don’t wanna consume as much as possible. Most of us are gluten intolerant. When this happens, your body got inflamed and it will stop absorbing vital nutrients. If you are lifting and consuming a lot of pasta, bread, this causes a lot of inflammation on your joints, you will feel bloated like a ballon. Notice why you feel so bloated and all after eating whole lot of pasta, cake, etc? It’s Gluten’s fault! Consuming gluten is literally eating rubber.
Gluten-containing food are eg. wheat/flour containing bread, pasta, cakes, rye, cereals. You must be thinking what to eat now? Easy, easy. Staple food would be any kind of sweet potatoes, any kind of rice. Lastly, always look for gluten-free label on the products.
Next is soy. Why no soy? Soy contains high levels of goitrogens, Phytates and most of all, phytoestrogens. Relax, relax. I know you are frustrated with all the latter terms. Goitrogens literally screw up your thyroid hormones. When you have a failed thyroid, you gain weight, mood swings, get fatigued easily, etc. Next, phytates. They are enzyme-inhibitors that block mineral absorption in human digestive tract. That is why you would always fart after eating soy! Sounds familiar? Finally, what is phytoestrogen? It is simply estrogen, a female hormone. Male always avoid lots of soy because it can lead to low libido, fatigue, gynecomastia and hormone imbalances. For ladies, too much estrogen will disrupt your period and fertility.
Mooooo… why remove dairy from your diet? Most dairy contains lactase and most Asians are lactase-intolerant. We just do not have enough enzymes to break down lactase. Hence, we would always feel ‘bloated’, ‘watery’ after consuming diary. Secondly, we got to know what’s the meaning of pasteurization and homogenization. We used to have raw warm milk back in the 90s. These raw milk are actually the best for our body to consume. These raw milk however will degenerate and spoil within a day. Hence, pasteurization comes about. It is a process where heating the raw milk at a very high temperature then cooling it down, killing all bacteria as well as vitamins, nutrients and proteins. Homogenization is the mixing of cream content into milk itself; the cream comes from the cow while milking it. It flows to the top. This process actually breaks the fat from the cream so it can be absorbed into the milk. Look at the amount of processing you are drinking!
After reading all these, I hope you can decide what to remove or reduce from your daily diet to see a change in your health and body. In conclusion, look for soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free products in the market. Afterall, we are all human beings. Drinking, eating these once in awhile is fine. Just go ahead and indulge. I do eat them sometimes too.
