Let’s talk about #RICE today. There are many different types of rice sold in Singapore’s market. There are over 30,000 types of variaty of rice in the world but are mainly categorized into 3 classes: Long, medium, short grain.
I often have questions about which rice is better; brown or white rice? Answer is- Any Rice is good if you use them at the right timing. So what is the right timing then? Go google about Glycemic Index, commonly known as GI and you will know when and what type of rice to consume.
I have seen and heard a lot of people discriminating white rice of being the main culprit making them fat, etc. Come on man! It’s your cupcakes, ladies! Stop blaming rice! 😄
It is good to have some white rice before/after training. Before training so that your body has enough energy for whatever you want to do and after training, so as to replenish your glycogen.
How to know if the amount of rice is too much for you? Very simple. The moment you feel sleepy. 😴 That amount of rice is too much for your body to handle. Everybody is different. Hence, keep on adjusting to the amount.
I have personally used white rice, brown rice, basmati rice, black/purple rice. I usually chose rice made from Thailand and special rice like the black/purple rice which are Organic or USDA standard. Quality overrules Quantity here.
I always advised people to try all sorts of rice and how it reacts to your body. My body may respond very well to Basamati rice but you may not. It is very crucial to understand your body.
